Welcome to The Lovely Lady. I am glad you are here. If you are interested in a lovely life, then stick around because I have something for you. My name is Vanessa and it means butterfly so join me on this journey as I break through my cocoon to realize the beauty of my purpose.
First and most important, I am a child of God and I thank God because without Him, I am nothing. I am in my late 40’s, married and have three beautiful children that are my daily inspiration. I love to read and write (yes, I am a simple girl) and I really love to travel. My own inspired quote is “Traveling ignites the mind and restores the soul.”
I desire to help women realize their worth and significance by being able to live the life that God has intended for each one of us. It is a life filled with peace, joy, hope, expectation, prosperity, success, and all that is good. He reminds us in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This hope and future is not just for your friend or neighbor or everyone but you (as it sometimes seems), it is for YOU! It is God’s personal promise to you! So take hold of what is rightfully yours and don’t let go!
You can go from an ordinary life to an extraordinary life by merely changing your thoughts. Most successful life changes don’t come by landing that dream job or finding that perfect partner or losing those unwanted pounds or anything tangible. Successful life changes come from our thought processes and how we perceive our situations. Successful life changes come from trusting God and knowing His will for our lives, no matter the circumstance.
In this blog, I share what it means to live purposefully and mindfully by encouraging women to live in the moment of this precious time we’ve been given, to cherish our blessings and to expect more tomorrow. I am a girly girl so I do all this through some of the things that inspire me most including faith, fashion, food, lifestyle, travel, wellness and more.
Career-wise, I am an instructor of psychology and sociology at the area community college. I have a master’s degree in psychology and sociology and I love to study people and their thoughts. I am intrigued by the complexity and sophistication of our brains. When you begin to understand a mere fraction of how it functions, it is hard to deny the omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience of God.
Also, I love to encourage others. It gives me great pleasure and purpose to inspire, exhort and support other people, especially women. I know the challenges that women face and those challenges can leave us feeling overwhelmed, lonely and misunderstood. Meeting the demands of being a good wife, being an intentional and loving mother, performing my job with excellence, and living up to my own expectations can be discouraging and defeating. Let me remind you of this. We are in this together! You are a lovely lady and you deserve to feel exceptional regardless of your situation. Follow me as we traverse through this lovely journey called life!
