This is the first post in a new series I’m starting called Feel Good Friday where I will commit to doing something positive for myself at least once a week. As women, it’s easy to get bogged down with daily duties and responsibilities, leaving little time for ourselves. This can make us feel drained, depleted and downright discouraged so I’ve decided to be intentional about taking care of me. I’ve chosen to treat myself on Fridays because it’s the end of the week, the beginning of the well-anticipated weekend and probably when I’ll need a little pick-me-up the most. You can choose any day of the week that works best for you but make sure it’s a day that isn’t already jammed-packed with things to do. For better chances of keeping the commitment, you should choose the same day each week so that it becomes a permanent part of your weekly schedule.VIEW POST
Spotted-print shoes are some of my favorites because they’re bold, beautiful and most importantly, neutral. This timeless pattern goes with everything! The most popular of the spots is the leopard. It can accessorize an all-black outfit for a more classic look or be paired with other prints and bold colors for a more eclectic charm. Either way, the print is sure to add flair to any ensemble. Since it is such an audacious print, I personally prefer it as an accessory (such as shoes, belts or scarves) to blend a style rather than stand alone.
You may wonder what the Word has to do with working out or how to incorporate one with the other. We will begin by determining what exactly is the Word. Of course, another term for the Bible, it is the Book of Life, it is our daily inspiration, our communication with God, our message from God. The Word is a living book. It is alive and like no other book, when we engage and read it, it gives us life.
In comparing the two, bodily exercise is our physical workout while the Living Word is our spiritual workout. The Word gives us strength and stamina to keep up our somatic workout and encourage healthy living in mind, body and spirit.
We’ve all heard the saying, “Use it or lose it,” but when it comes to keeping your body flexible, I like to say, “loose it or lose it. As much as we’ve read and heard about the importance of stretching (especially as we age and become less active or have sedentary jobs), it can be much easier said than done but considering the benefits, it’s crucial to get loose.
No matter the season, there’s a peep-toe for that….which is why I love peep-toes! They’re so versatile and can be paired with any style. Whether your attire is dressy or casual, smart or sassy, the open toe shoe adds nothing but pizzazz to an ordinary ensemble!
Considering I’m a simple girl and prefer to live in comfortable clothes, I love that my peeps can take an ordinary outfit to dashing sophistication for an exciting night out on the town or simply a lovely dinner at my favorite restaurant.
An occasional vacation is recommended if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Work, kids, and other responsibilities can become overwhelming if we don’t take time for a breather. While there plenty of places to decompress, my favorite is New York City! Yes, it’s probably busier than where you’re coming from but it is truly a magical place no matter what your mood is for travel. It offers everything…….And more! However, it can be a little pricey so planning your attractions and sites before you go will help you stay on budget because a whimsical trip to NYC can literally break the bank.
The enemy wants nothing more than to derail us from God’s plans and he does this by whispering lies such as “You’re not equipped to make a difference.” “You have nothing special to offer.” “Your sordid past disqualifies you.” And so on. But God tells us differently in Joshua 1:9. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
God has a plan, a special plan for each and every one of us. If you’re not sure of His plan for you, then consider some of the desires in your heart. Consider dreams and interests that set you apart. Or things you are so passionate about that time flies when you’re engaged in them; things so exciting, they light you up. These are God’s plans and He has placed the desire uniquely in your heart.
There’s nothing more comforting than a cup of hot cocoa near the fireplace on a cold winter’s night (or day). And although we Texans don’t normally experience freezing temps, 2018 has made an exception for us. It is cold! My son informed me that on new year’s day, it was colder in Texas than it was in Alaska; a frigid overnight low of 15 degrees. What????
With that in mind, what better way to warm our hearts than with a cup of chocolately goodness? I’ve tried several different recipes and the simplest recipe is the one that wins my kids over every time.
It’s that time of year when we are all looking for inspiration to lead a better life; one that is less hectic, more simple, less stressful, more peaceful, less tedious, more intentional and the list goes on. Resolutions of losing weight and managing finances are some of the most popular resolutions every year but tend to get neglected after a few weeks or months if you’re really dedicated. The reason is because we haven’t changed some of the more basic habits that prevent us from staying on track. For example, if you commit to hit the gym more often, but you still don’t have babysitting, then it probably won’t last. Or if you commit to save money, but you haven’t created a budget, then it’ll be difficult to stay on track. But don’t be dismayed. There are some simple and effective things to do (in no particular order) to make 2018 a success without setting unrealistic goals.
I personally have never been much of a hat person, but since they seem to be back in style and gaining more and more admiration, I’ve decided to give the trend a try. Let’s face it, the fashionable accessory can really spice up an outfit; from drab to fab instantly.
However, in my quest to step out of my comfort zone, I have realized that it takes confidence to wear a hat, especially if you’re not in the habit. While women’s hats have been around for centuries, their popularity tends to come and go with the times.
